Update: UFC 232 was moved from Las Vegas to Los Angeles because of a Jon Jones drug testing abnormality.

Early lines just posted for UFC 232 at the time of writing and the main, co-main events and some undercards and we will take a more in-depth look at those fights as they get closer. Let’s take a look at the card as a whole and some spots we will need to keep our eyes on as the lines come out.

This Card Is Stacked!!

The undercard features the likes of Montel Jackson, who won impressively by TKO on Dana White’s contender series and then dropped his first real UFC fight to Rickey Simon who is 14-1. Montel is facing UFC vet Brian Kelleher who is 3-2 in the UFC, but his only two losses come from Marlon Vera and John Lineker who are both quality opponents and proven UFC vets themselves. Depending on where the line comes out this may be a nice spot to fade a young fighter who is getting thrown to the wolves just a little too early.

Uriah Hall returns with his back against the wall against my new favorite fighter based solely on his name: Bevon “The Extraordinary Gentleman’ Lewis. Bevon has had two performances on Dana White’s Contender series and won both by TKO and is a fighter on my list to watch going forward. Uriah Hall has gone 1-4 in his last 5 getting KOd stiff in 3 of those 4 losses. The thing to remember however is that Hall lost to Robert Whittaker the current reigning middleweight king, Derek Brunson currently ranked 8th, Gegard Mousasi the Bellator middleweight champion, and Paulo Costa who is ranked 7th and is slated to face the #1 ranked challenger Yoel Romero in what will likely be a title eliminator fight. There is no shame to lose to any of these fighters and Hall has been facing a whos-who of the top 10 and every time he faces an opponent who isnt in the top 10 he wins in devastating fashion. My early lean is to Hall and I will be watching this line closely as if its close there may be some value on Uriah Hall against a fighter who is just 6 fights into his career and hasnt tasted UFC level competition yet.

UFC 232 also will also feature the return of MMA Legend and Hall of Famer BJ Penn. Yes, you read that correctly. BJ Penn is fighting in 2018. BJ returns against Ryan Hall who is just 2 fights into his UFC career and 6-1 overall. His 2 wins are over the GOAT Artem Lobov and Gray Maynard and he fights out of TriStar in Canada. BJ fought John Fitch to a draw back at UFC 127 in 2011 and that is his most recent highlight. He has lost 5 in a row with his last two being to Dennis Seiver and Yair Rodriguez in the biggest mismatch in UFC history. I had the unfortunate pleasure of being live at that fight when Penn got crushed in the 2nd round. Given how little experience Hall has they might not make him a massive favorite, but this breakdown is mostly a Public Safety Announcement to warn you away from betting BJ Penn. Hall is, however, a wrestler and grinder winning his last two by decision. BJ might be able to survive in this fight and land a sneaky decision loss. I will consider playing the total here.

The rest of the card has legends like Carlos Condit, Alpha Cat Zingano, and Andrei Arlovski who as once again found the fountain of youth to keep his career rolling at at 39.

Chad Mendes is facing Alexander Volkanovski in a beautiful show of match making. Vokanovski comes from the same camp as Hooker and Adesanya and is looking to jump the line by taking out a regular top contender in Mendes. Chad Mendes wont take that lightly however. He came off of a 2 year USADA suspension for having failed a drug test and wrecked Miles “Fury’ Jury in his first fight returning to the cage in July and looked like he never missed a day.

Chad trains with Team Alpha Male in California and has fighters like Cody Garbrandt as his training partners to keep him at the top of the game. I am very interested in Chad Mendes here and I think we might get a nice price on his with Volkanovski being 18-1.

We are in for a great night to wrap up the UFC’s 2018 calendar and there will be some nice spots where we can win some cash!

The UFC is on this Saturday Night December 29th and they have a big card for the new years event. UFC 232 will see John Jones fight Alexander Gustafsson for the vecant Light Heavyweight Title. Gustafsson gave Jones his toughest fight 5 years ago and Jones has been out for a long time, lets see what happens in this one. In the co-main event Amanda Nunes will challange Cris Cyborg for the Women’s Featherweight Title. Both Brazilians and both at the top of there game, it should be an awesome fight. This one will kick off this Saturday from the The Forum in Inglewood, California, United States and its not one to miss, the card is stacked with good fights.
