A couple months ago, Pockrass revealed that he wasn’t going to remain at ESPN and the NASCAR Awards Ceremony was his final event. ESPN has had layoffs off-and-on over the past couple years and considering ESPN doesn’t have NASCAR rights, shrinking their motorsports staff was possible and thus Pockrass’ tenure at ESPN was over.

But unlike many other stories about great media members being out of a job, this one has a happy ending. First reported by Sports Business Journal’s Adam Stern and confirmed by Fox Sports themselves, the company has hired Pockrass to be a “NASCAR insider” for the 2019 season.
Fox notes that Pockrass will be on their NASCAR linear and digital platforms starting with Daytona Speedweeks in a couple weeks, continuing a streak where Pockrass has covered the Daytona 500 every year since 1992.
After the news broke, Pockrass tweeted that he was “stoked” for the new opportunity to be at Fox Sports. And if you read through the replies to his tweet, you will read hundreds of congratulatory tweets from fans and media professionals about the move. That tells you how important this was for the sport.

Robert 'Bob' Pockrass is an American motorsports journalist and on-air talent for Fox Sports who covers NASCAR.

Pockrass grew up in Indianapolis and attended Indiana University Bloomington, initially being a business major before graduating with a degree in journalism.[1][2] His older brother was a writer for the Indianapolis News.[1]
Career[edit]
Pockrass began covering NASCAR in 1991. He started as a sports writer for the Daytona Beach News-Journal from 1991 to 2003. He later covered the sport for SceneDaily.com from 2003 to 2012, Sporting News from 2012 to 2014 and ESPN from 2015 to 2018.[3]
Pockrass joined Fox NASCAR before the 2019 season[4] after being laid off at ESPN following the 2018 NASCAR season due to the network's financial problems and budget cuts.[5][6]
He is a fan favorite among NASCAR fans on Twitter, as his account provides consistent updates on the NASCAR world on the social media site. [7]
